Apart from that, it is also a very difficult procedure to produce the exact supplement of the marble in order to place back to the construction.

Basically, for an optical blue screen you would pass each frame through a red filter, which would turn the blue to black, and then record that on high contrast film that would leave all non-black areas clear (the matte)., then use that to create a reverse matte (swap). The matte goes in front of the person, the reverse the background, and then images are optically combined.
